Sadly Round 3 of this championship fell on a day that few members found make. Despite the unusually low turn out the racing still generated the usual entertainment and excitement.
The Track
Paul Rose had laid out a challenging but easy to marshall circuit liberally scattered with 6 inch bends and surprisingly well balanced across the four lanes.
Micro Scalextric Club Class
Qualifying
With only 4 members present the heats were run with only two people driving and two people marshalling. After some discussion it was decided to take the qualifying positions as the finishing order.
The racing was a tight as usual with the club prepared cars. With consistently good runs in white, red and blue, and fresh from his National closed wheel win Lee took the top spot by a mere two tenths of a lap from Paul Rose. Putting in the highest score with the yellow XJ220 that the others couldn’t get to grips with, Al was just half a lap behind Paul. Tony put in the highest score of the night with a mighty 37.3 in red but couldn’t match that in the other lanes.
Super F1
Qualifying
With scores above 40 in three of the four lanes Paul took the spot by a over 4 laps from Lee. Once again Tony’s Super G+ had the one lap pace and he claimed the fastest lap of the night and third place. Al failed to find any reasonable pace with his usual Mega G so switched to an SRT that was an improvement but still some way of the ultimate place leaving him fourth.
